Dividend Income (Q4 2019)

Owning stocks mainly from my Master Stock List, I’m generating passive dividend income from my Vanguard taxable account.

Each month, I contribute dollars to my Vanguard money market account and wait for it to build enough cash to purchase a dividend stock(s). Now that Vanguard has free stock trades, I’ll likely start building smaller positions in quality companies. In Q1 of each year, I also receive annual bonuses that will go to the purchase of dividend stocks too.

Goal

Generate over $15,000 in annual stock dividend income by 12/31/25.

Updated Income

In Q4, I initiated a new position in Molson Coors Beverage Company. This added $228 to my next 12 months dividend forecast with a starting yield of approximately 4.40%.

2019 was my first calendar year of dividend investing. I received $2,251 in total dividends this year. The companies that provided dividend income in 2019 are:

  • AT&T
  • Exxon Mobil
  • Royal Dutch Shell
  • Coca-Cola
  • Phillip Morris
  • CVS Health
  • Molson Coors Beverage Company
  • Vanguard High Dividend Yield ETF (small position)

I’ve got several quality companies on my radar for 2020. I’m hoping they join my portfolio, assuming they come into my price zone. I’m going to be really picky on which stocks get purchased … patience is key.

Looking to 2020, I’m expecting to receive $3,192 in annual dividend income. This is assuming I make no changes to my current stock portfolio and add no more capital (though I will add capital). The $3,192 leaves me $11,808 short of my $15,000 dividend income goal (by 2025) but I’m happy with my progress and I’ve got to time to close the gap.
